Altitude Camera — Privacy Policy

Altitude Camera (“the app”) is built and operated by Chason Jia. This policy describes what data the app accesses, what it does with that data, and what controls you have.

Short version

• We do not collect, transmit, or sell your data.
• Everything you capture lives on your device.
• We use device permissions only for the features that need them, and only while the app is in the foreground.

What permissions the app requests, and why

Camera — required for the AR camera (the app’s core function). Frames from the camera are rendered on-screen and, when you tap the shutter or record a video, saved as files on your device. Frames are never uploaded.

Microphone — required only when you record a video. Audio is embedded in the saved video file. Never uploaded.

Location (when in use) — used to:

• compute altitude (via barometer or GPS),
• reverse-geocode the current place name for the on-screen label,
• attach GPS coordinates to each saved photo / video for the Map view. Location data stays on your device.

Photo Library — used to save your AR photos and videos into your iOS Photos library so they appear alongside your other media. The app also reads its own captures from the library. We never read your existing Photos library content.

Compass / Motion sensors — used silently by ARKit to anchor 3D labels in real-world space. Not transmitted.

What we do not do

• We do not have a backend.
• We do not collect analytics or telemetry.
• We do not include third-party ad networks or trackers.
• We do not share or sell any data, because we never collect any.

Third-party services

• Apple Maps is used in the Gallery’s map view to render your photo markers. Apple may collect data about your interaction with the map view itself; see Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ for details. The app does not send your photos or coordinates to anyone other than the Maps API needed to render the view.

Your controls

• Revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → [Camera / Microphone / Location / Photos] → Altitude Camera.
• Delete content: tap the trash icon on any photo’s detail screen. This removes the photo from Altitude Camera’s gallery (the copy in your iOS Photos library is left in place; you can remove that separately in the Photos app).
• Reset the app: delete and reinstall Altitude Camera; SQLite and any cached files in the app’s sandbox are removed.

Children

Altitude Camera is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes meaningfully, the updated version will appear at the same URL with a new “Last updated” date.
